The Brian Center "Butterflies" Walk to Defeat ALS

On October 5, 2008 The Brian Center staff raised money and Walked to Defeat ALS at Hollins University. ALS- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a fatal neuromuscular condition, is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Patient Dan Wright is a 19-time marathoner who was diagnosed with ALS in 2006. Despite an illness which has him unable to walk and on a respirator, Dan continues to work to bring help to other ALS patients in the Roanoke Valley and SW Virginia. The ALS association MD/DC/VA Chapter provides free assistance to any ALS patient on a needs basis.
